Souche vivace, renflée en bulbe creux, par dessous ; tige de 10-30 cm, simple, portant 1-2 feuilles, sans écaille au-dessous des feuilles ;
Écologie : (répartition d'après la flore) Haies et bois, dans l'Est, depuis la Lozère et l'Isère jusqu'à l'Alsace-Lorraine.
Répartition hors de France : Europe méridionale et centrale, du Portugal à la Suède et au Caucase.

Perennial base, swollen hollow bulb; 10-30 cm, single stem, bearing 1-2 leaves, without scales below the leaves ;
Ecology UK: (distribution according to flora) Not native to the UK - France: Hedges and woods, in the east, from Lozère and Isère to Alsace-Lorraine.
Distribution outside France: Central and southern Europe, from Portugal to Sweden and the Caucasus.

Fleurs : purpurines, blanches ou panachées, en grappe terminale, dressée, s'allongeant après la floraison; éperon long, courbé [en bas] et arrondi au sommet;

Flowers: purplish, white or variegated, terminal cluster, erect, elongated after flowering; spur long, curved downwards and rounded at the tip;
